Boat Quay is a historical quay in Singapore; situated upstream from the mouth of the Singapore River. Since the 1800s, this location was central to Singapore’s commercial activities and shipping businesses. Its designation as a Chinese settlement by Sir Stamford Raffles brought large numbers of Chinese traders and labourers to live and work there.

Although it no longer serves such a purpose in present day Singapore, it still remains a busy and bustling place, especially in the evenings. The conserved shophouses along the river now house restaurants, bars and pubs.
