Peranakans were amongst the earlier settlers in Singapore. They were originally made up of a mix of Chinese, Malay & Indonesian descendants. This design features a Peranakan-style teapot and the Chinese characters for herbal tea or cooling tea (凉茶 liang cha). To the left and right are phrases extolling the benefits of drinking herbal tea as reducing heat and preventing colds. Herbal teas are made from flowers, leaves, roots and stems of plants and drunk all year round in tropical Singapore.
