“Lanterns in the Mist” was inspired by the Chinoiserie style - A European romanticised interpretation of Chinese style.
The artwork captures the romantic ambience of a walk in a Chinese garden. A row of red lanterns sway overhead in the breeze. A Chinese Teahouse is surrounded by a lotus pond, a pagoda and a pine tree. The garden is overflowing with blooming English roses and flying swallows.
