South Kensington is an affluent district of West London, popular with tourists due to the concentration of museums and landmarks. The house seen in the artwork is a typical Edwardian style terraced house.

The title “The Queen’s Roses” is a nod to the image of the wrought iron gate “The Queen’s Gate” which marks the entry point for the Kensington Gardens. The gate is painted a feminine dusty pink and contains beautiful sculpted roses.
