Singapore's Black and White bungalows were originally built during the British colonial days and are located in various parts of the Island. Hidden in the thick jungles of Singapore they seem to carry with them stories of the past. It is because of these stories, that are still lingering on in these old grand houses, that I chose them as my subject matter to be depict through this series of art works.  Through these Black and Whites I hope to share more of the stories that Singapore has to share.

Built in the 1940s, the colonial style houses were once used by British officers and soldiers. Many of these houses have since been converted to artist studios and restaurants. Surrounded by lush greenery, Wessex Estate is the ideal place for a nice weekend afternoon stroll.

The Black and White Bungalow in this artwork is located at Wessex Estate near Portsdown Road.
