Artwork Description

I love the shades of patina greens and metallic coppers that can be found on copper when it oxidises. This colour palette can be enjoyed in this artwork “Patina Forest”.

A forest-scape is seen in the top right hand corner, ferns cascade from the top and a lush birds nest fern stands in the foreground. These plants can all be found here in the Garden City. Nestled, in-between the plants is a classic Shophouse, one of Singapore’s iconic heritage homes.

In this artwork you will see an array of textiles, rich maroon velvet flocking is seen in the entrance to the Shophouse. A mix of Chinese silk, Indian Saris and Peranakan batik has been carefully cut out to form the leafy shapes of the birds nest fern. This mix of traditional fabric celebrates the multicultural society you find here in Singapore.
